My Cedric is an AU character. In my world, he didn't die. Something much stranger than that happened. It appeared that he died in the cemetary, but that's not what really happened. One of the Deatheaters hit him with a new spell that embodied the draught of the living death. That spell hit him just before the Avada Kedavra spell did, and nullified the killing spell's effects.
Three years later, Cedric woke up in a coffin with his wand and a crumpled piece of parchment in his hand. In a moment of panic, Cedric blasted his way out of the grave. Others would later think that a Deatheater had desecrated it because Cedric didn't return to life as usual.
Why not?
The small piece of parchment crumpled in his hand simply said: I gave you a second chance. Leave the past behind and use it as an opportunity to help others.
Part of him wanted to return to Cho and to his father, but he felt obligated to follow the instructions on the parchment. He'd been saved for a reason.
